We love the Yale lock because it can be set to different codes for different people.
Each guest and family member can have their own code. Other visitors like maintenance workers who need to come by when you’re not home can use a separate code, so you know who’s in the house and when.
The only problem we found with this lock was that you have to purchase the Access Upgrade Kit separately in order to connect it to your smartphone app.

To start, you aren’t limited to this specific model because although some folks may be content going completely keyless, we understand that others may like the reassurance of a backup plan.
This model allows you to use a typical key entry, and it also comes with a backup.
The smart lock comes in black and oil-rubbed bronze as well as satin nickel. BHMA Grade 2 certified deadbolt. It’s also completely motorized and quiet.
Something we especially like with this lock is the DoorSense auto-lock/auto-unlock feature, which will lock after you close the door. You don’t even have to think about it!
Yale smart locks have a common feature that allows you to go keyless without worrying about the lock breaking.
If the lock’s battery dies and you are locked out, the bottom of your touchpad has a terminal that allows you to connect a 9-volt power source. This will allow for you to enter your code to unlock the lock.

It appears to be a simple backlit touchscreen at first glance. Connect your phone to it and you’ll discover a whole new world of features.
This smart lock is similar to the Yale Assure standard and can accept multiple passcodes from family members or guests.
Siri compatibility allows voice activation, and you get all these features.
Another great feature of this lock is the ability to keep track and be notified when the door has been locked or unlocked.
You can also set up a schedule for certain passcodes to be used. This means that if your petsitter is usually available between 1pm-3pm, it can be kept scheduled and updated if they arrive at different times.
We didn’t particularly like that the notifications don’t alert you to which passcodes were used to unlock and/or lock the door, and the fact that this smart lock is not perfect against the elements.
You should be aware that the touchpad can get damaged by harsh weather.

This auto-lock feature is very popular because you can set the time.
This lock provides extra security because you can check your smartphone to see the status of the lock status if you leave the house.
If it’s unlocked, you can press a button on your smartphone to secure your domain.
However, the keypad could be a little better. We noticed that it wouldn’t light up until you began to type on the keypad. It also spoke when it unlocks or locks, which was quite jarring.

This time, you can connect it to a hub. The hub is sold separately and can be used to lock or unlock anywhere. We love the simplicity of this lock and the variety of style options.
One problem we have, and it is the same with other reviewers, was that setting up codes can be tedious and time-consuming.

You can choose to have our second smart lock with door handle, with either a touch screen or keypad, depending on how your code is entered.
This lock’s best feature is its ability to unlock the door hands free. The door will unlock automatically when you walk up to it. It’s a warm welcome home.
This is because of the connectivity with your phone since it will sense its presence, and if you don’t have your phone on you, you can just plug in your passcode and walk on in.
You can also create unique codes and schedule when they can be used with this lock. You can voice-activate the lock using Google Assistant or Alexa.
We weren’t fans of the fact that this didn’t come with a backup key. However, the lack of a tumbler also means it can’t be picked or bumped open.

Backup Key
There are two options for this feature. Both are very good. Yale Assure Lever is the lock for you if you want a lock with a handle that can be used in smart homes.
The smart lock comes with a backup key option as well as a simple handle. On the other hand, if you don’t want the handle, that’s okay. That’s where the Yale Security Touchscreen Deadbolt comes in.
It has the backup key but doesn’t have a handle and comes with a lot of compatibilities.
Voice Capability
Nearly all smart locks are capable of speaking through Siri, Google Assistant, Alexa or Google Assistant.
Voice control is fantastic, especially if your hands are full of groceries, covered in dirt, and you don’t want to muck up the touchscreen, or you just want maximum convenience.
If you’re interested, we suggest the Yale Security lock, which is compatible with Alexa, or you could go with our top voice-activated lock, the Yale Assure SL.

2. Yale Assure Lever – Smart Touchscreen Keypad Lever Lock with Z-Wave Plus – Considered for Most Stylish Handle
This lock model is identical to another lock on the list, but we wanted it to be mentioned because of how it looks. It’s a gorgeous oil-rubbed brass keypad with a handle.
This touchscreen has a backlit display, an auto-lock function, and can be combined with many home styles with its darker color. We like the overall design. Yale Assure Smart Keypad Lever with Z-Wave Plus Better, but they are both similar and worth a look.
3. Yale B1L Lock Keypad Deadbolt in Satin Nickel – Considered for an Affordable Option
An older Yale lock is our final Honorable Mention. Since a lot has changed since this classic keypad lock came out, it didn’t make our list because it doesn’t have as many features as the other locks.
This lock is not obsolete. It works with Alexa and Z-Wave. It does require the hubs to access those features.
Overall, we prefer the Yale Assure Lock SL It works well, stores many passwords, and proved reliable during our tests.
